After working for a dentiist during H School, I attended St. Cloud and roomed with Lorilee (great times),worked for other dentists, an optometrist, retail , library aide at elem school, and even ushered for the Colorado Rockies. I've been married to my sweetheart, David, for 47 years, had a daughter and a son, and tried to keep up with all of them. We left MN for Iowa (Garner & Iowa Falls), then Kennewick (WA), Denver, and after we both retired, back to Kennewick. Eastern WA is the best! We are in south central WA with 3 rivers, little snow, our share of heat, low humidity, and NO misquitoes! Our Son, Brian, lives with his wife, a daughter & son in Spokane (WA) about 2-1/2 hours away, and our Daughter, Lori, is in Denver with her husband and 2 sons. Since our 4 grandchildren are still young, we trravel to see them as often as they will let us. They all sure make life worth living.

For several reasons, I will not be attending the reunion. You are all apart of my memories, and my prayers are for all of you as you get together. Have a great time. I will miss you.

From Arlene:I can’t believe we are talking about a fiftieth reunion when we are still so young. Life has been full and fun. We got married in September 1961. After my husband graduated college in December 1963, we packed up our infant daughter and moved to Guatemala. Over the next two years, we had three more children. When they all were in school, I started volunteering at their school which lead to a job tutoring and substituting in the Special Education Department. It was very rewarding and turned out to be a real benefit when our oldest daughter contracted Reyes Syndrome and needed special education. I also had a freelance business in interior design. My husband retired and we started volunteering at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport. In addition to our home in Minnetonka, we have a home in Tucson Arizona, and volunteer at a hospital there. We collected antique pressing irons (yes, the ones that iron clothes) for over twenty years. We sold most of our collection, but have maintained our activities in the American Club and international clubs. Iron collecting gave us a wonderful opportunity to travel and visit friends around the world. We have eight grandchildren, four of whom are in college.
We really lived in an extraordinary time, and were so lucky to have experienced it all. I am eager to see many of our classmates and catch up on their lives. See you in August, 2011.

I have never been overly excited about REUNIONS, but for some reason I have really gotten into it this time. I guess its because I have thought about many of my old school friends through the years and wondered how their lives have gone. A few of them have passed away and I have missed my opportunity to reconnect. I guess that’s why this 50^th reunion has become so important. I feel IT’S NOW OR NEVER -- our St. Louis Park theme.

I attended Kenwood Grade School and Jefferson Junior High School. My family moved and I attended tenth grade at Southwest High School before moving to St. Louis Park for my junior and senior years. I attended one year at Mankato State College before transferring to The University of Minnesota where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a minor in Theater Arts with a concentration in Set Designs and Costuming.

After graduating from college, I married and we moved to Chicago where my two children were born, Andrew in 1967 and Julie on Dec. 31, 1969 (a New Years Eve baby). Andrew now lives in California and Julie lives in Passaic, New Jersey. I had given up the thought of becoming a grandmother, but with my daughter’s recent wedding in February that could be changing.

I divorced after 26 ½ years of marriage. During my marriage I taught art part time at community centers, as well as producing and exhibiting my own art work. My passion for art and the desire to collect led me to become an art dealer of established and renowned world artists.

Today I don’t think of myself as only an artist, but also a creative person. My talents

flow into many areas such as logo design for business cards and invitations, interior design, teaching, clothing and jewelry design and art dealer. I was proud that Erte’ and Agam have used some of my ideas.

I opened a studio and showroom at 7900 Excelsior Blvd to display my art and clothing line. I developed a clothing line for Plus size 12 to 24. I named the line LADY GEORG. I have been trying to get it off the ground but it is moving slow because I love the design part but not the marketing. ANY ONE LOVE TO MARKET OUT THEIR. Could use a partner. art and the creative world play a huge role in my life along with my family and many friends.

From Gwen:Attended the U of M. where I met my husband. We lived in Rochester, MN for 15 years. We enjoyed remodeling homes and moved 3 times. I guess that was the beginning of my interest in Real Estate. I continued my Real Estate career when we moved to Austin, TX in 1980. Eventually I became an assistant to a Bankruptcy Trustee on two large cases. The final case lasted 10 years at which time I retired. My husband was retired from IBM by then. That was the beginning of spending August in Northern MN. every year. Many fun times with family and friends. Last year was a very challenging year for me. Early on I was diagnosed with breast cancer (radiation,chemo) and also my husband lost his long battle with various health problems. I have a great family and wonderful friends who were of great support to Bob and me. My best "forever friend" Max (Shapley Holm) has been there over the years. We take a week getaway every year. Last month my two sons(6'4"& 6'3"), and daughter-in-law went on a cruise (the first for me and one son).They are great to their short mom. Luckily they took after Bob who was a basketball player from all places Hopkins. Life has been good to me. Challenges make us grow into better and thankful people. Prayer sure helps too. From David:Life since Park High has been a blast. The biggest adventure was three years ago when Bev and I adopted a seven year old girl from Tanzania, East Africa. She is a joy. Our son and his wife presented us with our first grandchild this year, a girl. I retired 13 years ago after being diagnosed with Parkinsons. It was time to stop and smell the roses. From Sharon:Soooo....Dick and I were married in 1965...lived in Chicago until he finished med. school in 1967 and moved to Rochester,NY for 5 yrs. of residency. We had 2 children...Rob now 42 and Krista 39. We moved to Hanover, NH when Krisy was a young 2 mo. now Dick is semi-retired from his practice at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Med. Center. We've lived in the same house for 39 yrs. and loved raising the children in this Dartmouth College town.

Even while Krisy was still in diapers, I became involved in town govenment/politics and finally ran for the legislature in 1988....many years ago and I'm still there. 400 members in the NH House so every 3089 people have their very own legislator ! So not a big deal to be elected ...especially from a college town ! Not a great paying job...$ 100 a year and milage, but I still enjoy it despite the 2010 election!

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the reunion as we'll be on Martha's Vineyard with our family for the end of summer vacation.....beach, lobster, grandchildren, friends,...etc. Too wonderful to miss, for sure.

Our son, Rob and his wife, Julia 2 boys ...6 and 4 yrs just moved from NH to Ct. Krisy and John live in Portland, Me. and has a 3 yr. old boy. The best gifts ever.

Hope to get interest for an East Coast /reunion meet-up sometime with those wanting a bit of ocean for a change! Sad I'll miss seeing all of you.....have such an amazing time !!

I can’t believe it’s been 50 years! I’m still in Minnesota. My husband Mike and I live in Excelsior. We are a blended family—his two girls live in Washington state with three of our grandchildren. My daughter Sally lives in St Paul. I’m glad she is close by so I can spend a lot of time with my two Minnesota grandchildren.

Life has been good to me. I’ve had a varied career—high school teacher, lawyer, and professional quilter. Now I’m retired so I can spend a lot time traveling and being a grandma.

Although I haven’t been in touch with classmates since high school, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and hearing your stories. It’s been fun and exciting working with the committee, and I’m really looking forward to our reunion.

From Judy:I was married for 37 years before being widowed in 1999. In 2001, I started to date and in 2003, I married my husband Bob. We have been on a whirlwind ever since. In college until 1971 (slow learner), then 9+ years in Boulder Colorado. Returned to Twin Cities, Daughters moved back to Colorado as they finished college. This fall will be 20 years "retired".

1/14 With wife Sue retiring 12/13, we decided to escape MN winters. So moved primary residence to Sioux Falls SD. Will return to the "Cabin" in Shoreview (former home for 33 yrs) for the summers. Bunch of neighbors here think Sioux Falls isn't south enough and leave here to go even further south (AZ, FL, TX...). Huh.

I live two good lives. For eight months of the year, my husband (#2) Phillip and I reside in Mill Valley, a bucolic town 15 miles north of San Francisco. In the summer, we come back to Minnesota to the family cabin on Bay Lake. It’s a great mix.

In 1967, I headed to San Francisco after teaching high school English for a couple of years. A fluke took me from education to medical association management, and I embraced a stimulating 30-year career. Now that I’m retired, I wonder how I ever fit work, however meaningful, into my life.

My one daughter lives in the East Bay with her husband and two little girls. Being a Grannie is great fun – I bake LOTS of chocolate chip cookies!

Being part of our 50^th reunion has been great fun too. I’ve reconnected in person, by phone, or by email with perhaps 100 classmates. It has given me a taste of what’s to come – the best time in years! We are an interesting group of Fogies. See you there!

From Wayne:I went to the U of M after graduation. Met my wife, Margaret, in first year Japanese class. We were married after graduation from the U, leaving graduate school to go live in Japan. We were there for four years, changing directions when we got back. Entered Alex Tech taking carpentry though not really using the skills until my last six years of working. Margaret worked for the State of MN in various jobs that kept us moving to and from central MN and the Twin Cities. My favorite job was doing construction and maintenance for a group home company whose residents were developementally disabled. I retired from there in 2006 when we moved to SF. Coming out of retirement my wife is now working for UCSF. We enjoy the music, food, wine, politics and weather here, and are able to spend a lot of time with longtime friend and classmate, Jay Goetting and his wife, who live in nearby Napa. When Margaret retires again we will probably return to MN and spend part of the year in CA. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in August.

From Mary Jo:I moved to Colorado after college and taught high school math for 5 years. When I moved here, I joined a singles square dance club which is where I met a 3-generation Colorado native, Bob Shaw. We've been happily married for 44 years and have one daughter Christy.

I eventually went back to school and got an MS in Accounting degree from CU at Denver. After working as a General Accountant in industry for 25 years, I retired from Hunter Douglas Window Fashions in 2008.

I love to camp and hike in the mountains and enjoy singing in my church choir. I've been involved with Girl Scouts, participate in various church activities and most recently, have been baby sitting our 8 month old granddaughter. Bob and I square dance and now have the "luxury" of a small trailer for our camping excursions. Bob and I love music and take in several concerts of various types during the year.

I'm looking forward to seeing long lost friends at the reunion. Many thanks to all who've worked so hard to create such an awesome event.

Thank you for finding me! My year 1960-61 at St. Louis Park High School as an AFS-student still stands for me as a fantastic experience. It "blew my mind" and gave me - not least thanks to you, my classmates - another perspective on the US, on cultural differences, on politics and the world. Returned to Denmark I chose to study political science (instead of mathematics or literature as I had intended before). I became a university teacher, then researcher at Danish Institute of International Studies, and later I joined (for nine years) the Danish Foreign Ministry (part of the time stationed in Bonn). I then returned to the university, specialized in security politics, Danish foreign policy and the European Union. I became Professor in International Polics (specialized in the study of the EU) at the University of Copenhagen. In the beginning of 2011 I retired. I am still connected to my old Department, but at the same time beginning a new phase of life!

I have been happily married with Karin in 33 years (living together even longer). We have two sons, yet still no grandchildren.

Reviewing your home page, recognizing many faces and names, finding the old "Echowan" etc. revives many pleasant memories from 1960-61. I am still grateful for my year in the US, to my host familiy, and not least to you at SLP High that you received me (and Dakie) in such an open and pleasant way! I am sorry that it was not, for family reasons, possible for me/us to join you in 2011. I will, though, together with my wife, Karin,take part in the Birthday Bash on 21. September 2013. I hope to see many of you!To all those of you who remember your Danish AFS-student: be assured that he is very thankful to you and your great country!

From Calvin:After high school and college, Nancy Nisser and I were married and spent 5 years in St. Louis. When I was laid-off at McDonnell-Douglas in 1971, we travelled to Australia for 3 years coming back to the states and graduate school in 1974. From there we moved to Seattle where I worked at Weyerhaeuser for 25 years as a process automation engineer. There Nancy and I raised 2 children. After a long battle with breast cancer, Nancy died in'96.
Jackie and I married in '97, she added 2 children and, subsequently 4 grandchildren to the fold. I am now expecting a fifth grandchild, the first from my daughter (who lives in Australia).
Jackie and I both retired early, deciding that there was too much we wanted to do to be tied down to jobs. I have taken up bread baking as a hobby, am active with the Kiwanis club in our community schools among many other pursuits that help keep us busy and active.

Finished nursing school at Swedish Hospital, Diploma in Nursing, obtained Masters in Health Administration and Masters of Science Occupational Safety & Engineering in my fifties. In 1964, just out of nursing school, bought a car drove to Ca. with a fellow nurse, Stayed there two years, back to MN, Married, lived on Kwajalein, Marshall Islands for 2 years, then to NJ for 2 yrs, Had 2 boys, back to Kwajalein for 2 yrs,had one daughter, then to Chicago for 2 yrs, then to NH for 17 yrs, kids off to college, to Atlanta to get out of the cold 5 yrs and finally here to Austin, TX. Kids all married, 8 grandchihldren. My husband born and raised in HI so we trek back there each year for a visit. Looking forward to catching up with everyone again. My family still iives mostly in SLP so have gotten back through the years for visits.
11/12/17 Update, My husband suddenly passed away a little over a year ago. It has been a difficult long journey. I moved to OH in the Spring to be closer to our daughter and family.

I started as a high school math teacher in Peace Corps, then started a retail store selling handcrafts, and eventually returned to grad school at Berkeley after traveling around the world without flying. I look forward to reconnecting with SLP classmates. I have been fortunate to have good health, good friends, adventures, and an interesting life.

From Jeffrey:After graduating high school, I abtained a BA in liberal arts from the U of M. I then went on to get my Masters degree from St. Thomas College in their Master Arts in Teaching Program. After that I attended Law School at the U of M in 1969. I have continued to practice law full time-out of choice I guess because I still like it after 41 years. I have also done some adult teaching part time. In 1984-1987 I took an extendsd sojourm to San Francisco, with my partner of 32 years, Martin. We then returned here.
