50 years! Hard to believe, I remember my parents going to their 50 year class reunion, and I'm sure they were much older than we are. But then again my daughter, the baby, turns 40 this year, my son is 43 and I now have 4 grand children ranging in age from 4 to 14. I'm very fortunate that all of them still live near by giving me the opportunity to be with them often. They are very sports minded-- hockey in the winter, softball in the spring, La Crosse in the summer, running, biking, swimming, skiing. I am a great supporter and love to cheer them on. I have worked most of my adult life--Started as a speech therapist, but soon discovered that was not my thing. Have spent most of my career in sales within the hearing industry, working for manufacturers. I retired 6 weeks ago and am learning to live the life of a retiree. I think I'm getting the hang of it-playing golf, reading, spending time with the kids and grand kids. I'm incredibly lucky to have a few close friends, some going all the way back to high school, who are fun, active, supportive and caring. |

What would you change if you could?: I'm very lucky. I have a great family, and close friends. I have traveled to some wonderful places, had an interesting career. So I wouldn't change any of that. However, I would be okay with better knees, a good singing voice and a good ear so that I could harmonize when singing in a group, also a better memory. |

I am still teaching at the University of Minnesota in the department of applied economics and promoting economic education at the K-12 level. I started as a high school math teacher in Peace Corps, then started a retail store selling handcrafts, and eventually returned to grad school at Berkeley after traveling around the world without flying. I look forward to reconnecting with SLP classmates. I have been fortunate to have good health, good friends, adventures, and an interesting life. |
|
What are your favorite activities?: | Synchronized swimming (coaching, judging, competing). I still go to the SLP high school pool twice a week to workout with masters synchro team. I continue to enjoy attending ballet and modern dance programs and the theatre. |
What countries have you visited and/or would you like to visit?: | Probably more than 80. I caught the travel bug during my tour in Peace Corps Nigeria in the mid 60's. |
What kind of music do you like today?: | classical and jazz |

It's amazing to see the pictures of before and after. We all look remarkably wonderful in spite of our years. I have 3 lovely children. My oldest son is in Portland, OR. He has three children. My other son is in Santa Ana, CA. He has two children. My daughter lives in Farmington, MN. She has three children and is expecting her fourth. Life has been good and I am back in school on-line finishing my degree in Psychology. |
|
What are your favorite activities?: | walking, swimming, dancing, laughing a lot |
What countries have you visited and/or would you like to visit?: | Hong Kong, China, Thailand, England, Japan,Germany, India, Canada, and around the world on my 40th birthday. |
What kind of music do you like today?: | rock and roll, blues, jazz, country |
How would your friends describe you today?: I am who I always was except I don't fight it. I am a peaceful person who loves nature and life. My condo walks out on a park on Prior Lake. My Shih T'zu and I walk around the paths and enjoy the seasons. However, we're not so active in the winter. | |
What would you change if you could?: I would bring back the respect for each other that is sorely lacking in today's world. It just seems to me that we have so many disposable people. What a shame. They could have the answers to today's problems. |
