The family lived in Omaha, Nebraska for 14 years before moving to Georgetown, Texas where they resided for over 20 years. They later moved to Briggs, Texas.
John began his career as a computer analyst with RCA; later he worked for Unisys Corporation and Digital Equipment Corporation. When John and Margaret moved to Georgetown, John established his own business, Clausen Distributing, a full service vending company for over a decade. For the last four years he worked for Home Depot in Austin.
John enjoyed collecting cars and had a passion for horses. John and Margaret moved to Briggs in order to make room for three new horses. He was fond of all of them.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Clausen; his sons, Christopher John, Jeffery William, Andrew Thomas, and David Mathew and wife Kimberly; his sisters, Joanne Kitzman and Barbara Edin and husband Richard; many other friends and extended family. In March, John would have been a proud grandpa for the first time to Parker Edward Clausen.
