2023-10-10 2022-11-05On November 5, 2022, Robert (Bob) Johnson died at home in Sarasota, FL, surrounded by loved ones after complications from a fall.
After high school, Bob attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute. He continued his studies in London and lived for a period of time in Greece. His wife of 33 years, Wendy, remembers Bob as “an artist at heart.”
Bob married Joanne Mavis Detwiler (also from class of 1961) in 1964; they had two children, Collin (1964-1988) and Aaron, age 54. Aaron, his wife Janelle, and their two children, Tanner 25 and Hogan 23, survive him as do two children from his marriage with Wendy, Tana 28 and Cole 26.
A Celebration of Life was held at Bob and Wendy’s home on November 13, and a memorial was held at the Self Realization Fellowship Temple in Encinitas, CA. In one of life’s circles, Bob and his best high school friend, Nick Speliopoulos, died within 3 days of one another, Nick on November 2 and Bob on November 5.
