
Patricia Nicolas
1943-03-17 2021-05-02Former longtime Durango resident Patricia (Sewall) Nicholas passed peacefully on May 2, 2021 in Sun City West, Arizona with her family at her side.
Patricia was born in St Louis Park, Minnesota on March 17, 1943 to Donald and Grace Sewall.
In 1973 she married John Nicholas and they moved to Mesa, AZ with her children, Tamara and Christopher. In Mesa she started and operated IPM Realty, a Property Management company and later added an ERA Real Estate sales office to her business portfolio before moving to Durango, Colorado in 1988. In Durango Patricia created several small businesses including Tax Masters in Ignacio, which thrived for 20 years. Concurrently, she owned and operated the Durango Quilt Company in downtown Durango.
She spoke American Sign Language, loved cooking, was an avid quilter, a writer of short stories and plays. She also enjoyed traveling, pickleball and was a keen reader, relaxing with a good book daily. Spending quality time with her friends and family was always on the top of her list. She was a stoic, fearless, and venerable woman whose strength was contagious, impacting many people's lives.
She earned her angel wings, and they are well deserved!
Patricia is survived by her husband John; her two children Tamara and Christopher; five grandchildren Ciera, Ashley, Brittany, Cody, and Marianna and four great-grandchildren and her brother, Larry. Numerous nieces and nephews.
