Comment: Married my high school sweetheart, Vern "Hobby" Habighorst in Sept. 1961 and recently celebrated our 49th Anniversary! Little did I know at the age of 18 that I was marrying a true entrepreneur and that our future lifestyle would include horses! We moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1967, started a trophy business, Blue Ribbon Awards in 1972 and our Western show saddlery business, Blue Ribbon Custom Tack in 1981. I feel very fortunate in that our daughter and son work in our businesses and that we can enjoy time frequently with our four beautiful granddaughters. Vern and our two oldest granddaughters show our quarter horses at "halter" very successfully and I enjoy watching them from the sidelines. We enjoy traveling to horse shows throughout the US and have no intention of retiring anytime soon, health permitting. | |

Yipes…no grandchildren, no children, no husband, no SO, not even a dog right now…does a 92.5 year old Mother count? She is the reason I moved from beautiful Sausalito, CA to central Texas. Was in the SF Bay area to pursue a Ph.D in Philosophy, Cosmology, & Consciousness at the California Institute of Integral Studies...current status ABD. Why more school…you have to read to the end of the story. Now, am providing lots of support to Mom, doing some health coaching and Trauma First Aide work, keeping fit, recovering my Spanish, preparing for my 70th decade, and trying to adjust to Texas culture by growing native perennials…it and they are a challenge…its a tough place for this Minnesota Progressive. Next phase…when Mom passes will probably bi-locate to MN & New Mexico. Sure do miss the Northern Minnesota Lake country. Backstory: Was a hospital executive/CEO working too hard. Eventually diagnosed with fibromyalgia so retired early. Standard treatment then was worse than the disorder. Conventional thinking: once you have fibro, you have it for life. Not True! Not True! Sought out complementary & alternative therapies, especially the “energy psychologies.” Voila! No fibro, (but also triggered a “spiritual emergency” as they say in the trade.) The experience challenged my thinking with the questions: What is the relationship between early childhood traumas and a physiological disorder, e.g., fibro; How can the memories of those traumas be changed; and How can those changes result in a change in physiology? Those questions sent me back to school. More questions from participation in a research study: 7 of 8 the subjects transformed out of fibro (the one who did not was the only one following conventional medical thinking), and of the 7, only 2 of us used the same modality. So what was going on? This was my quest. Result: my questions were successfully answered…and I can explain when we meet if you wish… |
